This service aims to move people in receipt of qualifying Social Security Benefits into employment. USEL provides a tailored approach matched to the needs of the individual and employer to ensure the successful sustaining of employment. The service operates out of USEL’s headquarters at Cambrai Street Belfast, and from shop front premises at Market Street, Portadown. The team also provide support through a wide range of community settings suited to the needs of job seekers.

Employers are assisted to gain valuable staff with disabilities or health conditions. The Job Broker team will identify and pre-screen applicants, provide professional support in selecting people to match job requirements and will also analyse tasks and provide advice and guidance on the removal of barriers and reasonable adjustments. The team also provide disability awareness training, provide advice on how to retain valued employees and on Disability Discrimination Act 1995 implications.

Job seekers are provided with one-to-one tailored support, careers guidance, training and accessing of training grants. Job search assistance is available and this also covers CV preparation and interview skill training. Individuals are given support by building and focussing on individual strengths and the provision of practical ongoing employment support.
