|
USEL has been successful in securing new contracts to deliver the Pathways Work Preparation Programme in Northern Ireland. These new contracts, commencing 1st April 2008 and awarded by DAS (the Disablement Advisory Service within DEL), will enable USEL to deliver the programme in all Jobs and Benefits Office catchment areas across Greater Belfast and the South East region of Northern Ireland.
Jobs and Benefits Offices involved in the programme in Greater Belfast and surrounding areas are:
- Knockbreda, Connor Buildings (Shaftsbury Square), Newtownabbey, Andersonstown, North Belfast, Holywood Road, Larne, Carrickfergus, Bangor, Newtownards, Falls and Shankill.
In the South East area the Jobs and Benefits Offices involved in the programme are:
- Lurgan, Portadown, Armagh, Newry, Banbridge, Downpatrick, Kilkeel, Newcastle, Ballynahinch and Lisburn. All individuals on Incapacity Benefit are eligible to participate.
USEL will work in partnership with Triangle Housing Association, RNIB, RNID and Action Mental Health to deliver the programme in each area.
Each locally delivered programme lasts for 12 weeks, and involves work preparation training in a classroom setting followed by the opportunity to take part in a work experience placement within an industry/sector chosen by the individual client. Participants also have an opportunity to gain Open College Network (OCN) accredited qualifications, and on completion receive a Certificate of Attendance, 2 references and an updated CV. Full support and mentoring is given throughout the programme by trained Employment Services Officers, including signposting into alternative employment support programmes or further training once the programme is completed.
