| New Deal a Hit with USEL Clients |
|
USEL's delivery of the Department of Employment and Learning's New Deal for Disabled People has proved to be the most succesful privately contracted Job Broker service in Northern ireland.
A total of 215 people registered for USEL's programme during 2003-2004 and were helped to examine their employment options. 71 have entered paid employment and many others were assisted to move into voluntary work, test job aspirations through work experience placements, or to enter training or further education to help with career choices.
A client in Bangor stated "Previously I had felt excluded from the job market. I could not have found work without the professional help and support of my Job Broking Officer"
The employer, a North Down retailer stated, " The Company recruited an excellent employee through the Job Broking Programme. This was initially on a 12 hour per week contract and it has worked out so well that her hours have been steadily increased".
This programme facilitates people, who have a disability or health related condition on specific Social Security Benefits, enter and maintain paid work of their choice. A dedicated USEL team of Job Broker Officers have been very successful in working with indivduals to explore their employment aspirations and moving them into paid employment. This move has been achieved through experienced staff, working throughout Northern Ireland, facilitaing job search, job match and Social Security Benefit 'health checks' to ensure the individuals will be 'better off' with the choice made. |
