| NEILL IS SUPPORTED INTO EMPLOYMENT THROUGH NDDP |

Neill from Irvinestown, County Fermanagh joined the New Deal for Disabled People Programme in November 2007 after being referred from his local Jobs and Benefits office.
Neill had previously been employed as a trainee joiner however was involved in a serious motorcycle accident and as a result of his extensive injuries was no longer able to continue in this employment.
The New Deal for Disabled People Programme is a programme of advice and practical support, which helps people move from disability and health related benefits into paid employment.
Neill was assigned to USEL’s local Employment Services Officer, Siobhan Quinn, who provided him with advice on his career options and guided him in his search for employment.
Neill demonstrated good people skills and expressed an interest in working within a retail sales environment. Siobhan researched employers in the local area for suitable employment and when a vacancy arose for a part-time sales assistant in the local Marks and Spencer’s retail outlet in Enniskillen Siobhan assisted him with his application and provided him with job coaching.
Neill was successful in securing the position and after commencing his employment Siobhan remained in contact with Neill to provide help and support to ensure a smooth return to the work environment.
Neill feels he has benefited greatly from his participation on the NDDP Programme. His confidence levels have increased and he has developed a structured work routine and demonstrated excellent timekeeping and attendance skills.
Marks and Spencer’s praised Neill on his work ethic. Food Hall Manager Kathryn Glenn commented, “Neill is a valued employee who is reliable, trustworthy and keen, and we hope he will stay with us for a long time”.
Siobhan has ongoing contact with Neill through the NDDP Programme and visits him on a regular basis to monitor his progress and provide continuous assistance and support.
