| MOBILE PEN TECHNOLOGY ASSISTS DISABLED PEOPLE INTO EMPLOYMENT |
|
USEL (Ulster Supported Employment Ltd), provider of paid employment and related services for disabled people has gained major efficiencies in the delivery of their employment service programmes by adopting mobile pen technology for their registration, intake and assessment procedures.
USEL who deliver a range of programmes to assist disabled people to move into and maintain paid employment were seeking a solution that would improve the efficiency of their whole client engagement process.
The digital pen solution from inphoActive incorporates digital pens and paper forms with a Blackberry mobile device with Blue tooth. Using the digital pen, the data collected by USEL’s employment services officers during client visits is immediately routed via the Blackberry to USEL’s back office client management system.
The technology has allowed USEL to achieve both cost and efficiency savings by eliminating the need to re-key information into the back office system, providing a more consistent way of gathering client information and facilitating the collection of more detailed information for statistical and reporting purposes. Crucially USEL officers are able to spend more quality time with their clients.
According to a recent survey published by Enable Ireland Disability Services greater assistance is needed to help disabled people move into employment with over two thirds of people with disabilities in Ireland finding it difficult to find work.
Sam Humphries, Chief Executive of USEL commented “This is a major innovation in the disability sector. This technology allows us to collect the information we need from our clients at the point of contact. In addition to the efficiency savings more people are now able to be seen and helped – the key objective for our organisation”.
