| 2003-2004 Employee survey results |
|
USEL carried out its first employee survey in January 2003 to establish a baseline for future internal employee related organisational improvements. A second survey has just been completed and this has provided the organisation with valuable information regarding movements in employee relations, working conditions, and training. It has demonstrated that organisational improvement has occurred within the last financial year.
The 2003-2004 outcomes demonstrated that the following changes from the 2002-2003 survey have occurred: 5% more people felt they had access to the right tools/equipment for the job 12% more employees felt they had job security 5% increase in employees stating they enjoy working for USEL (this now represents 96% of the workforce) 13% improvement in employees feeling their views and opinions were being listened too 10% improvement on being encouraged to participate in training -targeted accredited training objectives was well exceeded in the year [253 accreditation's were achieved against a target of 100] 88% indicated the introduction of a 360 degree appraisal was positive
One area of concern was that there was a 6% increase in the number of of people who felt they did not have an effective induction when they joined the organisation.
As a result of the survey the organisation has put in place a number of objectives to ensure continual improvement in all areas for the current year, which will be measured for progress on a quarterly basis. Whilst the survey results are pleasing to the organisation, USEL will continue to work to ensure further improvements occur in the workplace, which will assist in benefiting the morale, motivation and commitment of all concerned. |
